Smoked Salmon Bagels

Smoked Salmon Bagel (lox bagel) with cream cheese is such a classic and elegant breakfast, lunch or brunch recipe, that can be put together easily and quickly. An open face salmon bagel sandwich can be customized to your taste. Red onion, fresh dill and briny capers are one of our favorite combos!

Ingredients

  • 2 bagels (plain, everything, poppy seed, etc)
  • 4 tablespoons cream cheese (plain or herb)
  • 4 ounces smoked salmon or lox
  • 6 slices red onion
  • Capers
  • Fresh dill sprigs
  • Lemon slices or wedges
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Other toppings

  • Thinly sliced cucumbers, sliced ripe tomatoes, avocado slices, thinly sliced radishes

Instructions

  • Cut the bagel in half lengthwise then, toast it (optional).
  • Spread the cream cheese generously onto the bottom half of the toasted bagel.
  • Add thinly sliced lox or smoked salmon.Top with sliced onion, capers and fresh dill or any of your preferred toppings. Season with salt and pepper. Cover with the top half of the bagel. Serve with lemon slices or wedges.
