Add miso paste and about 1 cup hot pasta water.

Stir in the Parmesan cheese, whisking vigorously until melted.

Add drained pasta and the remaining reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce.

Keep the sauce warm, but not boiling. Keeping the sauce below a boil prevents cheese from clumping and butter from breaking.
