Tres Leches Cake

This reminded me to the one my grandma used to make. It was a trip down memory land! Thank you for such a delicious recipe

Vanilla Extract

INGREDIENTS

Sugar

Eggs

Baking Powder

+

Condensed Milk

+

Whole Milk

+

Flour

+

Salt

Evaporated Milk

Combine the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

Separate eggs, placing yolks in one bowl and the whites into a separate bowl.

Beat the sugar and yolks until they are a pale yellow color.

Add whole milk and vanilla and stir to combine, then mix it with the dry ingredients.

Beat the egg whites and sugar  until stiff but not dry.

Gently fold the egg white mixture into the yolk and flour mixture.

Pour cake batter into the prepared pan and bake.

After the cake has come to room temperature, poke holes using a fork.

Sir together the 3 different milks and pour it all over the cake.

Refrigerate the cake to allow the milk to moisten the cake.

Make the whipped cream and spread it on top of the cooled cake.

Add a sprinkle of cinnamon and strawberries as garnish, if desired.

Serve and enjoy!

The air in the egg whites is what lift the cake while it bakes. Be gentle and try not to overmix the batter to preserve that.
