WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS RECIPE?

This humble soup benefits from high pressure cooking by concentrating the flavors from the vegetables, chicken broth, seasonings and the taste of smoky cooked ham.

Using the sauté function of your instant pot, sauté the veggies.

1

Stir in the garlic, dried oregano and ground black pepper.

2

Add the ham, the split peas, broth and bay leaves. Close the lid and cook.

3

Open the pot, discard the bay leaves and transfer the ham bone to a bowl.

4

Pull off some of the meaty pieces of the ham bone and add them to the soup.

5

Add lemon juice and season to taste.

6

Serve and enjoy!

If you don’t have a ham bone left from the holidays, you can use a smoked ham hock or shank. If you want to skip the bone altogether, I recommend adding chicken bouillon.
