Mexican Tlacoyos

I love how detailed this recipe is. It makes it easier to make something like this from scratch. And the refried beans recipe…so good!

Beans and Bean Liquid

INGREDIENTS

Hot Water

+

Garlic

+

Onions

+

Oil

+

Salt and Black Pepper

+

Monterey Jack Cheese

+

Toppings of Preference

Masa Harina

+

Make the refried beans according to instructions.

To make the dough,  whisk the masa harina and salt. Then pour the water until well combined.

Using your hands, knead the dough until a cohesive and smooth dough forms.

Keep the dough covered for 15 minutes.

Roll each piece of dough into a ball, then form a flat disk. Spoon refried beans and cheese.

Fold both sides of the disk in, toward center, enclosing the filling.

Pinch the seams close.

Roll the dough with your hands to form a football shape. Gently press to flatten it.

Cook the Tlacoyos according to instructions.

Serve and enjoy!

If the dough is too wet and sticky, add additional masa harina. Add additional water, one little bit at a time, if the dough is too dry.
