Crispy, golden, packed with herbs, and full of bold flavor. Learn three simple ways to cook them at home: deep fried, pan fried, or oven baked. Easy, affordable, and better than takeout.
Heat about 3 inches of oil over medium heat, until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Working in batches, add 6-9 falafel balls into the hot oil. Fry them for 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown.
Heat 2-3 tablespoons of oil in a skillet (cast iron works well) over medium heat. Add the falafel patties and pan fry for about 2 minutes. Flip and pan fry the other side until golden brown.
Preheat the oven to 375ºF (190ºC). Place the falafel patties on an oiled sheet pan. Bake for 25-30 min, flipping the falafel halfway through. Bake until golden brown on both sides, about 18-20 minutes.
Dry Chickpeas is Key! Soaked but uncooked chickpeas hold their shape and create a fluffy interior. Canned chickpeas contain too much moisture and lead to dense or crumbly falafel.
