Black Forest Cake

This classic European style cake has deep chocolate flavor balanced with fresh cherries and light whipped cream frosting (instead of a heavy buttercream frosting)

Cocoa Powder

Make the cherry syrup

In a medium bowl, whisk the dry ingredients

Beat the butter on high speed until creamy. Add the sugar and beat until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time, then combine the dry and wet ingredients, being careful not to overmix.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.

Combine the chocolate chips and heavy cream and microwave until the chocolate melts.

Mix the ingredients to make the whipped cream topping on high speed until soft peaks form.

Assemble the cake spreading whipped cream and half of the halved cherries on each layer.
